In Jakarta, motorcycles are a cheap alternative to cars. They are also seen as a quicker way to surf traffic. But, their rising numbers are worsening road congestion.
Analysts say the root cause of the transport chaos is poor city planning. The planners didn't prepare enough roads for the huge number of vehicles, nor plan to provide enough public transport for the millions who need to move.
Urban planning experts say if nothing is done, in four years the traffic problem will be impossible to resolve.
